ZoooooomSational - in Santa Fe

If you believe that chrome and leather are the basic building blocks of life, and that the only real artery is made of asphalt, then jump on a Yamaha and experience the pleasure of cruising the endless black ribbon.

Unfortunately, the extraordinarily beautiful, fully-customized 2000 Yamaha Road Star that I spotted parked along Canyon Road, isn't  mine. It belongs to Sculptor, Jack Slentz - he shows at Box Gallery and teaches sculpture at SFCC - so all I could do was delight in it visually. I snapped away and then left my Chasing card on the seat. Jack was curious and called,  so that's how I discovered the wizard who put his custom touch
 on this sculpture on wheels.

A Peek at Dana's Home

Dana Waldon lives in an amazing old, old adobe house with jewelry designer Douglas Magnus, who spent several years reclaiming the house that used to belong to a cemetery caretaker. I couldn't resist taking a few photos...

Thanks Dana & Douglas!

THIS IS SCOUT

And, this is the  SANTA FE SCOUT COLLECTION

These collection is   named  after Dana's beloved dog Scout. Dana - known as that very tall girl with the red pickup truck - finds all the ingredients for each bag - old Navajo rugs & weavings, silver conchos, deer hide, turquoise, leather horse tack, buttons and fringe, and then has them fashioned into the finished bag.  No two are alike; each has its own personality and wonderful detailing and each bag is named after a beloved dog - Cruz, Nakai and the Isabel, etc.

There are 6 styles & various sizes in this first collection and the materials are 95% re-cycled.

They've added a simple leather clutch that doubles as an IPAD case to the collection...and there's even a diminutive bag, called the Zia, just big enough for a cell phone, a lipstick and credit card!
